After initial push-fit assembly, all screw holes must be piloted to the full depth of the screw using a 2.5mm or 3mm diameter drill bit. Screws are supplied but drill bit is not supplied
At less than half the height of the original, the mini version of the tried and tested Freebird 3D Assembly Square is perfect for narrow frame units, door linings, drawer boxes and compact shelving units where the original size was too tall. It's also great for precise alignment of studwork frames, and comes with guide hole positions in the sides that you may choose to drill out to allow screw fixing to rough wood parts.
It can also be used upside down on the bench to aid jointing of small section timber. You will discover many other clamping and positioning uses for this little square, whether on your workbench or onsite. Despite its shorter height it still works well as a general purpose carcase assembly square for all but the largest types of cabinet, or as a secondary square to use in conjunction with your main one (for example at the other end of a shelf).
Hold parts tight and square in 3 dimensions. Then direct-screw the joint from the outside, knowing it will remain perfectly lined up.
No unnecessary marking out of faces
No time consuming 2-part joint preparation:
No more need for biscuits or dominoes to align parts.
No more fumbling with the old 2D clamping squares.
No wasted time or expense.
Fast, Accurate, Strong joints.
Delivered flatpack for easy self assembly (see the instructional videos). Screws included (8qty 3.5 x 30mm). Clamps not included.
For DIY - it makes a difficult job easy with minimum tool spend.
For Trade - this will increases your efficiency and profit in the workshop or on site.
The unique corner design of the overhanging lip gives you precise visibility to allow you to line parts up to a mark on the face edge of one part only. The corner details also provide a reference for squaring the centre line of the board down the side for inserting screws.
Recommended for use with Festool or Makita-style rail clamps which can remain inserted securely in the jig for more efficient work when unclamping and repositioning. Also fits most Irwin style clamps as pictured except the mini variants. Also accepts Dewalt style rail clamps as pictured (but the shorter projecting pin on this clamp may prevent it holding it’s fixed position on the square when unclamped).
We are a fitted furniture making business and we've used this jig concept for many years before refining and improving it for CNC production and sale to you. See various projects built using this jig on the display storage section of our website: https://freebirdinteriors.co.uk/display-shelving-and-media-units
We still regularly use this jig in our 2600 sq ft workshop, alongside CNC, Lamello, Festool and Mafell tools - because often it is still the best go-to solution.
